"This is one of if not the best capstone yet."

What's The Situation?

As the Executive Producer of a 13-person end-to-end production production team, Davis led the ideation, planning, client engagement, implementation, and support of the Pyramid Hill Lights show located in Hamilton, Ohio. His role included the management of five departments covering Lighting, Tech, Experience Design, Fabrication, and Content.

His actions included the scoping of ideas spanning the 900+ acre park down to a selection of three high-quality immersive installations that matched the mission of the park while delivering a captivating experience for park guests.

Taskmaster

Success was defined by delivering three compelling site-specific installations that maximized creative impact within budget and timeline constraints. This required generating and refining 100+ immersive concepts through intensive ideation, establishing five functional departments with clear pipelines, and deploying fourteen event-ready lighting fixtures (nine Proteus Maximus and seven Rogue Outcast 1L Beam) with flawless technical execution.

The project demanded rigorous cost optimization across all expenditures, comprehensive scheduling and task allocation for thirteen team members, and personal mastery of EOS lighting and MadMapper projection software to provide informed technical direction. Beyond delivery, the goal included creating replicable systems positioning the team for future complex productions.

LIGHTS, MAPPING, ACTION!

He established five specialized departments—Lighting, Tech, Experience Design, Fabrication, and Content—with interdisciplinary pipelines enabling seamless collaboration and quality control. Through facilitated concepting sessions, the team generated 100+ installation ideas, which Davis refined through site analysis evaluating environmental constraints, infrastructure access, and audience flow to select three optimal locations. He implemented budget tracking systems and cost optimization strategies, reallocating resources when unexpected expenses emerged in site preparation and technical infrastructure.

To bridge his knowledge gaps, Davis learned EOS and MadMapper software, enabling direct technical oversight rather than sole reliance on specialists. Davis also developed dynamic scheduling frameworks for the thirteen-person team, adjusting task allocation as production bottlenecks surfaced. When challenges arose with lighting specifications and site power limitations, he coordinated directly with vendors and technical directors to engineer solutions while maintaining transparent client communication and managing expectations throughout the five-month production cycle.

A Show To Remember

All three installations delivered on schedule and within budget, exceeding client expectations for creative impact and technical execution. The rigorous 100+ concept development process provided confidence in final selections and valuable alternatives when site constraints required last-minute adjustments. All fourteen lighting fixtures performed flawlessly throughout the show, validating the technical planning and coordination.

The five-department structure and interdisciplinary pipelines became permanent operational frameworks the team continues utilizing on subsequent projects, significantly improving capacity for complex productions. Proficiency in EOS and MadMapper transformed leadership effectiveness, enabling independent evaluation of technical proposals and informed decision-making.

The experience confirmed that early investment in organizational systems and personal technical development creates compounding returns throughout production, and transparent problem-solving with clients builds lasting trust beyond individual project outcomes.
